Hi all

Has anyone that banks with sabadell had a charge come out of their account stating interest and or commissions as I am worried this is unusual and that someone has access to my account, obviously I have got to wait until Monday to speak to someone at the bank

Any help would be appreciated

Could also be that you have cards attached to the account that you may not have used. I also have Sabadell and if I don't use my cards at least once a month there is a charge. Also, if you made a transfer from a foreign bank and did not make the transfer in Euros there is also a charge named as you say. the third reason could be as above post mentioned, quarterly charges.

We have a holiday home in Quesada. We are only in Spain for about 3 months a year. We have direct debits set up for all the bills.
I have just checked my account as follows:
22/9 interests and/ or commission EUR 45.45. (I think that is more than usual).
23/6 ditto. EUR 34.80
24/3. Ditto. EUR 27.00.
So 4 bills a year, means we pay about EUR 140 per year. In addition, we have two debit cards and I think we pay about EUR 25 each for them.
Any idea exactly what the interest and/or commission represents? Our account is always in credit, so they use our money, so is it really just a charge for having the account? In which case, shouldn't the charge be fixed. If it is not clear I will go to the bank and try to find out.
It might be hard to make direct comparisons, but in the UK for our joint account we pay a monthly Premier account fee of £11.50 but this is for additional benefits - worldwide travel insurance and breakdown cover. So I can understand that and I don't have to have it if I don't want it. I do not pay any fee just for having the UK account. In Spain, I am using the Sabadellcam account infrequently, but pay a similar amount to the UK bank but I am not sure what the benefits are? Can anybody kindly advise me? Many thanks.

We have always been with BBVA, but I was enquiring about accounts at Sabadell the other day. For non residents they do an account with basically no charges if you pay in €750 per month. Otherwise I think it was €30 per quarter. Unless you are resident and having a regular salary paid in you are likely to pay charges at all Spanish banks. But shop around if you think it should be cheaper.

I think it is because we are non-residents that we incur the charge and I dont know of any benefits.

We've been charged interest and/or commissions each quarter at the same times as you but ours are all fixed at €30. We only have one debit card though so I dont know if that makes any difference.

With Sabadell it depends on which account you have . . The Key acct was designed for holiday homeowners like me that don't have regular income to the account. The fees used to be €24/quarter but went up to €30 at start of year . . The 1st debit card is free but if you have a 2nd one on a joint acct it has an annual fee of €20+ but is described as such on the statement. Additionally they have a charge per named person every 2 years for checking up on your residential status on behalf of the government, all banks have to do this but it is described as such on the statement. I have only ever been charged the € 24/30 under interests/commisions description.
