Nothing will show until the first direct debit is taken. As for your Community, although they cannot technically refuse your IBAN, it may be just as easy to obtain their IBAN and send them a bank transfer from your euro account once a year until they can get up to date. This only costs you €0,37. Or pay by card for free.

Re N26

A friend has just messaged me the following:

"Please ignore my comments re N26. They have closed my account without any explanation and the same is the case for hundreds in Europe. They started out good but have ended up very bad. The only advice is close your account and go elsewhere."

Has anyone here had that experience?

I'm not with N26, but I understand they closed their operations in the UK post-Brexit so it may have been that. The latest info for the EU / EEA on their website says:

"UPDATE: 25th Oct

Markets open for all tiers: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden & Switzerland

Markets closed: Italy

You can open your account only if you meet our requirements. Our products and services vary by country."

No problem in Spain as far as I can see.

N26 haven't applied for a UK banking licence, which would be required after Brexit. They use a European banking licence which gives compensation of up to 100,000 Euros.
Without a UK banking licence they cannot operate in the UK but are still operational throughout Europe.
