SUMA non-resident taxes and WISE
SUMA non-resident taxes and WISE
by gales » Thu Jul 15, 2021 9:17 am
Hi, I have been following discussions on here about bank accounts and charges and how everyone has been recommending WISE. I am with Bankia now Caixa and I have been appalled at the bank charges. I followed advice and set up a Wise account and began moving DDs over. However, I visited my spanish solicitor today and she advised that to pay non-residents SUMA tax then a spanish bank account must be used. Has anybody got any experience of this. If I have to have a non resident spanish bank account anybody know which bank has the cheapest charges? Many thanks for any help.

Have you actually tried to change it over yourself? I changed one property and car in the Rojales office and another online and, although I am a resident, proof of my residency status wasn't requested on either occasion that I remember.

We changed all our d/debits to wise last week, last year we paid non res.tax by card at our solicitors, but it cost €75 per person for them to do it.my neighbour used Spanish tax forms online & I think cost was around £25 per property not per person(not sure on exact amount) He then went to bank & paid for it over the counter. You can get Spanish tax forms to pay it for you for a small charge.we will use them this year. Just waiting for confirmation of all d/debits to change then closing Sabadell, like most Spanish banks they are legalised bandits.
Just had a look it’s £34.95 with Span.tax forms sti ll miles cheaper than solicitors at €150 for two people.

Thank you all for your responses. I am interested in the spanish taxes online option as this looks like it might suit me instead of going through my solicitor. So I am going to look into this further.

I recently closed my account with Caixa bank (non resident) and switched to Wise. Best move I have made in a long time. All my direct debuts switched including SUMA, including 2 for SUMA. One in Spring for the rubbish and a second one later in the year for Spanish Tax based on the house value. The non resident tax based on the previous year and paid no later than end December cannot be paid online. And has to be paid at a Spanish bank (any) and you don’t need to have an account with them. Simply present your forms (as already stated Spanish forms are very good) pay amount due and they stamp one copy for you as proof of payment. Or Spanish Forms will present the forms for a small charge. Very happy with Wise service .

I appreciate part of your post is about paying non res tax, I know this may not help you. I know someone who doesn’t pay when they should. I’m curious what happen for non payment of non res tax? Maybe that’s for a separate post though.

To the OP
I am non res and also a Wise account holder, I can confirm that you can pay a direct debit to Suma from your Wise account.
I visited the Suma office in Playa Flamenca to set this up but if you are currently in the UK try this, it has a chat facility.
