On your profile you have Lo Marabu as your location but it says you are from Mazarron.
Are you now in Mazarron in the province of Murcia or are you in Lo Marabu?
(It's important as it will affect the reply).

We lived in Mazarron. Moved up here, Christmas before last, always filed tax returns down there but then after the move used someone up here to do our tax return

It's just that the AEAT in Murcia collects local taxes (which SUMA does here). Could it be an outstanding tax (car tax, for example, which is now due) from there? Seems a bit odd if you moved up the Christmas before last, though.
The amount is also very similar to the new rubbish collection tax we are paying here through SUMA which is what I thought it might originally be.

No I’ve had the rubbish one taken out, the car tax was paid down there last year, and we’ve now paid it up here this year. So I just don’t know, butthanks foryour suggestions, Marcliff we will have to go tour tax people and get them to phone,

Same thing has happened to me, looks like IBI but usually pay this in September and this looks like half the amount. Split billing perhaps :(

The Agencia Tributaria doesn't collect IBI. It would be a SUMA gestion if it were IBI.

I think my question may be related.
78.36 euros was debited from my bank last week. It said SUMA GESTION TRIBUTARIA - AYUNT ROJALES RESIDU 2018

I've never seen this particular payment before - certainly not one of my regular bills. Could this be a new rubbish collection tax mentioned above?

Thanks for any insight.

Annual rubbish collection tax.
78,36 per year. Your water bill will be reduced by the corresponding amount (about 19 euro a quarter).
