Transfer funds from property sale to the UK

Transfer funds from property sale to the UK

Postby Curious » Fri Mar 29, 2019 8:12 pm

My property sale is hopefully going through shortly. I bank with Deutsche bank and online the largest amount I can transfer at one time is £25,000 euros. I was hoping to be able to transfer the full amount to the UK in one payment but it looks as if I will have to make transfers over several days. Does anyone know if I can overcome the daily limit? Otherwise I will be sending euros to the currency exchange company in dribs and drabs till I have covered the proceeds from the sale. I'm in the UK so not able to ask at the bank directly.

You can do it in 1 hit,but at a cost...doing it in smaller amounts avoids a big hit from the bank,i believe.

Thank you nigieboy. I was thinking that. I’ve been googling for hours and I think you are right.

that's interesting, how do people go on buying a property?can they only pay for it at 25k a time? Why not ring bank, and speak to a real person , you might be able to negotiate a better deal.
is this not possible , full amount in bank from sale , transferred to transfer wise or similar co, then into your uk bank ,

I’m going into the bank when next in Spain but just trying to get organised before the sale goes through. My Spanish is very limited so I would rather speak face to face rather than try on the phone. I will be using similar to transfer wise. I just wondered if anyone had experience or were connected to someone who had.

Most people, ourselves included, transfer €25k a time from UK bank to Spanish bank to pay for a property. You only need the deposit at the beginning of the process, then transfer in smaller amounts before the final payment.

Have not long done the same. Had to personally go to bank (Lloyds) and they transferred it all in one hit, cost £35 but worth it to save all the messing around. You'll find the same applies with FX companies, you to do a large sum personally over the phone at no charge though with mine.

I’m having this problem at the moment with our bank in the UK transferring £25000 to our money exchange company in drips and drabs, the only way I can do it is go to a TSB branch and do the full amount, we’re due to complete on our purchase next week.
