U.K. bank account

We have already been told our Barclaycard will be cancelled November 16th and they will be writing to us to confirm the date they will close our currant accounts. Something to do with Brexit and Boris not negotiating. Its flippin inconvenient I have had the same account for nearly 50 years. I don't understand what the issue is to be honest, just seems a lack of communication.....again.
I'm not hiding money, there is not a fortune in the account, but if I shop on line on a UK site I find it much easier just to use my UK Bank account.
Please update if anyone hears anything different. Looks like I might have to use my brothers address in the UK, even though I don't live there, so instead of being above board with information I will now be lying saying I'm at my brothers address. Crazy !

My husband had notification that from 16 November they are going to stop his Barclay card. I phoned them today about our current accounts and the lady at the bank said yes you have got a pop up notification that your current accounts will be stopped. I explained my husband has a council pension that has to go through an English bank she said he will just have to notify them that you bank account is closed or put a trusty friends address in england. She said don’t do anything until you get another notification

This is so confusing, especially as jpeg said Spain is not on the list. I just wish the "powers that be" would get their act together and give some clear, concise information...or is that too much to hope for.
In the meantime as Richards1234 post , I will play the waiting game, coming up to October hope they dont leave it too late to inform people, if too many restrictions come in it will presumably be a nightmare to sort out

I have a Barclays current account but do not have a Barclaycard( credit card)
I have not had any notification about ceasing expat accounts( in fact they have just sent me a new bank card valid for 3 years.)
I think it may be just the credit card they are stopping for expats,

Wonder how many other nuggets of joy British who travel are going to discover (many who merrily voted for Brexit). Bank accounts, 90 day limit in 180 day in the EU, mobile roaming in doubt. The list will go on.

Yes, another casualty of Brexit. The issue of UK banks, and the Financial Services' sector generally, losing "passporting" rights, which allow them to serve EU customers, has been a known issue since 2017 (although the then Chancellor, Philip Hammond, had to have it drawn to his attention by Nicky Morgan, MP, Chair of the Commons Treasury select committee!).
Some financial services companies took early action. For example, when we became aware of the issue, my wife wrote to Transferwise about our account with them and they advised us that they were opening an office in Brussels, so that they could continue to trade in the EU. Interestingly, Barclays also started restructuring in 2018, moving ownership of their entities in Germany (where its Barclaycard business is based), France and Spain to their Irish subsidiary, but ultimately, their European companies are owned by Barclays' London Stock Exchange-listed holding company.
This one isn't an issue for us, as we own a UK property, but it does make you wonder how many other institutions and companies in the UK Financial Services' sector will be writing to clients who don't have a UK address, now that "no deal" appears to have shifted from "looking more likely" to a "dead cert"..........
