Due to recent bad service plus fees I have opened a euro Wise account and will transfer my direct debits to that.

I do use the Sabadell debit card so have ordered a card but the only one seemed to be in Sterling.

Is there a charge to use that in Spain apart from the minimal charges listed or should I be ordering something different?

Thanks in advance

As a non resident, have you considered a UK Santander account?

Qualifying accounts allow you to to draw fee free cash from any Spanish mainland bank ATM.....Just remember to press the "no convert" button when withdrawing your cash.

The money is taken from your UK account a few days later and the conversion rate is at the visa/bank rate.

I too ditched Sabadell for Wise. Best move ever! I opened a Santander account in the UK specifically for this purpose. I opened a basic free account which also allows for the free cash withdrawals. When in the UK I pay cash into it and in Spain I withdraw it without any fees. You must use a Santander cashpoint though. (The button to press not to get charged is the left hand button). This works very well in conjunction with my Wise account. The cash facilties are quite restrictive with Wise but still better than being ripped off by surly Sabadell. I may reregister my Wise card to my Spanish address it's good to have options.

I also have a Revolute card but in their conditions it says €200
But I have recently been sent a email for a free trial of another account that allows you to withdraw more cash. But I don’t need that.

Thanks, That sounds perfect as a more local place to withdraw free cash means that its all free

Just remember though, it’s not about the “” no fees “” gimmick, as any main bank in the U.K. or Spain, will just charge u a poorer exchange rate in order to charge you enough for that service.
Ah well, I tried. Happy holidays

We’ve been using our UK Santander card since 2012 in Spain & get the exchange rate of the day of withdrawal,as long as you use Santander m/c & press no conversion button,we’ve never had anything but the bank rate of the day even since Brexit.Just don’t use the debit card to buy with or they carge you 1.5%.But if you can still get a Santander zero credit card you can spend fee free & still get the exchange rate of the day.

Incorrect! The exchange rate is at the official Visa rate which is far better than any exchange desk rate. However, you must request the "no conversion" option at the ATM, otherwise you will get a poorer rate of exchange.

You must also use the Santander ATMs and this only applies in mainland Spain

Not a problem, tell me I’m wrong if you want, maybe there’s a misunderstanding somewhere. But I’ve just checked today’s Santander U.K. Sterling to euro rate and this is 1.116. Now compare that to Wise, that is 1.175. So, if for example you want to send £500 from a U.K. bank account, to a virtually fee free euro bank account, even after fees from Wise, that is still saving you approx 26 euros out of your money compared to organising euros direct from your U.K. bank.

Like I say, maybe we’re on two separate pages. But a 26 euro saving to me, is worth having. Perhaps we both have 2 different, but just as good systems. Happy travels.
