Amazon Prime Video
by Camdenlady » Sat Sep 04, 2021 10:23 am
When I try to watch, I'm getting a message that it's not supported on my device. Also the menus etc are all in Spanish rather than English. I've not had any problems in the past. Any ideas pls?

if you’re paying for Amazon Prime uk you need to log in to Amazon uk.
Because you’re in Spain , Amazon Spain comes up by default and your U.K. prime doesn’t allow you access to Spanish Prime and vice versa.
If you’re viewing via the app, that’s defaulted to Spain, so need to change to U.K.
If you still have problems, switch off your location on your device or you may have view behind a VPN.

It does help if you say what device you are using to watch Prime and whether you are registered for uk or Spain

Do you have a VPN installed on your TV?

It changed early this year. Until then, I could watch UK Netflix and UK Amazon Prime. Then Prime changed itself to the Spanish version on my Smart TV and Netflix followed shortly after. If you haven't got a VPN (and a VPN will work on my laptop, but not directly on my TV) you'll get the Spanish version.

Does it matter? If you go to the top menu in Amazon where the search etc is then on the right hand side is a wheel icon. Click on that and you can change the language to English. Virtually all the films and TV shows are English anyway.
Once you've selected English it will ask if you want that as your default language. Click yes and all the menus and programmes will be in English.
I have an Amazon Spain subscription (It's less than half price and gives me free delivery on anything I order) and a Netlix UK subscription but have no problems getting either.

Peakey Blinders is on Spanish prime, but no English audio option, as was the case two years back.
Asked Amazon Spain, they told me copyright issues.
However most stuff can be changed to English if made in that language.

Its probably Brexit related, the EU has a legal requirement for any paid for Tv services (Amazon, SKY, Netflix etc) to be available to EU citizens wherever you are in the EU. After January UK services were no longer covered by the directive and the UK Government decided not to include it in UK legislation like it also hasn't included Mobile roaming being free and Mobile operators are now starting to stop providing it for free.
SkyGo has now been blocked from operating outside the UK and its quite likely Amazon & Netflix have done the same thing . . . Another Boris Bonus!
