Any techies can advise me?
Any techies can advise me?
by mondo » Fri Nov 08, 2019 11:40 am
Just a quick question that might make my life a little easier..
I have a LG TV about 9 years old.. I have Lenovo a laptop running Windows 10.
The TV has a USB port.. as well as several others, HDMI etc..
Is there a way for me to run a youtube movie on my laptop and send it to my TV with via Wifi so I can view it on the TV?
I can download a youtube movie then copy it to a stick and put the stick in my IPTV box and view it.
Could I save the time downloading and manually transferring the film, by sending it direct to the TV via a dongle or something..?
Just wondered..
Thanks in advance..

You can do it with Apple TV with a wi-fi connection. Just connect it to your telly via hdmi port, follow set up instructions and off you go, it also gives access to Netflix and other apps. There are other ways, but I use Apple so can’t comment on other methods.

Apple have recently upgraded ‘Apple tv’ so now costs about €140 but you will get an older box for less than €50. Mines 3rd generation and still works fine. Whatever is on your computer screen you can “mirror” the image onto your telly.

Hi Mondo,
You could try using an SVGA cable connected to the back of your lap top and into the appropriate socket on the back of your tv and then select the source for your lap top on you tv scream via your tv remote.
Hope that helps.

If your TV & laptop both have HDMI sockets just get an HDMI cable from a computer shop or online they are not expensive and connect them to each other. In your laptop find “display” ( think it is in control panel ) it will give you options click on “duplicate screen “ and whatever is on you lap top will show on your tv.
You may be lucky and not have to go into control panel sometimes it works automatically. Good luck.

Does your Lenovo have a HMDI output?
I know it's not wireless but it's quick & easy.
....Ahh ajf1950 beat me to it.
