So really doesn't matter what system you get you are going to get buffering ....Dr Doolittle we have been quite lucky with our dish and when we were paying for Sky as if it did go off was only off for a few minutes in bad weather ....

An electrical storm / atmospheric issues - will affect any external equipment - this includes satellite dishes, spanish TDT antennas, rebroadcast systems including TV & Internet (with external antennas). Basically during these type of extreme weather conditions - your TV & internet (unless landline based) is likely to have issues. Also anything working during the gotta fria, when 6 months of rainfall in 20 minutes, is unlikely.

If your internet is fast - or performs to minimum speeds specified for the IPTV, then you do not get buffering - not with a decent subscription based service. However if your internet speeds drop below the minimum - below 2Mbs then you will have problems. You have Ole 3 Meg - not the greatest starting point as is microwave and not as fast as it could be. If you get 3 download, do you actually get this in the evening / peak periods?

I have a similar system at home, which I use to bench test outside of office hours and usually very stable.

47ms time is good & theoretically if it stays at this, service should be fine. Key point is IF STAYS STABLE. A speed test is only a 'snapshot' - if there is a lot of variation or slowing over a greater period of time, then it will impact system.

1. Volatility in ISP (Ole) and ping / general speeds slowing during peak usage hours. Test speeds different times, not early during the day - but in the evening - when box is 'glitching' (peak hours - run multiple tests)

2. It could also possibly be the TV provider itself being over subscribed, though from this side impossible to tell.

Usually - or more than often it is ISP.

Generally the card share services (which is what you have currently) most (not all) are pretty stable - providing your internet ping speed is also stable and under 100ms & you have a half decent TV service provider.

If you are using Wi Fi antenna for your receiver connection to router, this will slow things down (and add instability)- so would look to replace wi fi with either a hardwire connection (cat 5 ethernet / PC type cable) or if not possible to run cable then can also use home network plugs.

Lastly it could even be a poor satellite receiver or receiver with issues with the specific CS software on it - though if was working o.k at some point would assume this to not be the case. You could always review specific model online and see if software updates / patches available.

That is a fairly new model & decent enough quality & should be o.k. If it was working well at some point, but is now not - unlikely to be the software. However if been issue for some time, you can try to update software as this could (though unlikely, be issue). If you update software, you will need a USB key and the file below (.rar) needs be be unzipped, with something like winzip or 7zip (on a PC). You will also need to know your passwords and how to re-enter all the settings required back into your receiver.

http://es.giclub.tv/index.php?action=do ... ile&id=770 (sunbird lite august software)

If not software - still brings issue back to Ole or the TV provider.

System you have should be stable, it is not for one of the above reasons. Unfortunately with this type of system you are reliant on a number of different services to work well together. So have to review all providers to get to the bottom of what issue is. 80%-90% of the time, it is the internet service provider.

You could also try another test from a different TV provider to see if makes any difference (you'll find a few offering 24 hour tests on the internet) on your set top box - if other TV providers test is better - then it is the existing TV provider, if not then is internet provider / Ole. Either way wouldn't quite rush into IPTV yet until you know your internet is behaving itself well enough as you will need more speed and bandwidth than you are using now for IPTV type services.

While I do agree with Paul up to a point, since we have up grated to 8 meg no problems unless internet goes down that is, I watch all my sport on Pheonix with the old Brit Box, and I cant fault it, cost us 189e one off payment

For reference - now available is a much higher specification piece of hardware, with the addition of a camera (with privacy lens) & microphone (for Skype / video / phone calls), a remote control, separate mouse and full sized wireless keyboard, so can use better for web browsing, emails and even work documents. With more software and processor power for only €10 more than above delivered. Equipment has moved on a little in the last 6 months - year.
