BROADBAND AND FREEVIEW TV
by SimonChew65 » Tue Mar 11, 2014 2:18 pm
Please can somebody suggest a provider for broadband (more important) and freeview tv. So far an engineer has turned up at my apartment and not been able to do the installation as there was no access to the roof. Apparently there are companies that don't need access to the roof but so far each one I have called does! Hopefully there is someone with a ground floor apartment who has similar problems. Please help! Many thanks.

Hi Simon,
Welcome to TalkQuesada. Hope you enjoy the forum.
I do hope you get an answer to your question soon. There must be lots of people who live in ground floor apartments without access to the roof and still have Broadband and TV.
There are lots of topics in this forum broadband-wifi-phone-and-tv-f88/ and you may have already looked through them but if not there could be something to help you on there while you are waiting for help.
Jan.

Hi Simon,
If requiring any sort of antenna - i.e satellite (free to air / freesat & Sky) or microwave rebroadcast (smaller antenna, not original service) will require access for reception equipment.
In most communities or apartment blocks there is sometimes a telecommunications type building on the roof where you may be able to mount a dish or antenna, though in order to confirm this you would need to speak to the administrators / president.
If you simply cannot get access to roof or simply not allowed to put up any type of antenna, the only other option would be TV through the internet. For this you will need a speed of ideal minimum of 2.5 meg (though there are services which are just arriving which will go as low as 0.7 meg) - with IPTV there are also a few options from subscription free, to premium channel packages with catch up TV.
If you need any further advice [email protected] or 966783944 (we advertise on this forum)
EDIT - Also reason why some local companies need roof access for internet as they are also using small antennas for microwave signal reception. Suggest contacting the landline based providers such as Telefonica (have English speaking dept) / Movistar, possibly Jazztel. Ultimately a landline internet if available is usually faster and more stable than the antenna based internet microwave solutions. These solely exist due to the 'gaps' in the not so well developed local internet infrastructure.
