CHEAPEST WAY TO SKYPE

I vist Quesada 3-4 times a year - each visit is for about 6 weeks.

I do not have a land line and do not like using the free wi-fi spots to Skype family back in the UK.

I know I need to use a dongle. Can anybody recommened best / cheapest network provider usinga dongle?

Welcome to Talkquesada

I just asked my son (who helped me set up this forum) about this and he said that a dongal may not give you a decent enough reception for video Skype, although you can use Skype just as a phone call without the video, as you probably know.

However, if you really want the video calling and don't want to use the free wifi places, you could look into using a system that Sandra recommends on here, it's a less expensive way of having home Wifi without having to pay each month for the full year.

It's as I suspected a Dongle is really a no goer for Skype video calls.

Hae had a look at Sandra's post and willlook it this option a bit more.

The cheapest way to get a decent connection is if you can find somebody to "piggy-back" on their WiFi account. I know several people prepared to let neighbours use their connection when they're not here permanently as long as they don't download "Titanic" or similar

We have some very good neighbours who kindly let us use their Wifi while we are there and it works very well, with no connection problems.

Same here - we use our neighbours connection. Not sure if he is aware of it - but I do buy him the odd beer so I don't feel too guilty

If he is not aware of you piggy-backing he probably thinks that he has a great neighbour - buying beer!!
