Fibre Broadband in Quesada?

Fibre Broadband in Quesada?

Postby 1foot4ward » Sun Jul 31, 2016 4:49 pm

anyone know when fibre broadband is likely to be available in Quesada?

Looking to set up broadband at my villa, have seen some of the satellite options, but fibre is obviously better (used to 150mb connection in the uk!)

Need a good connection for work email & IPTV in the main.

We have a Moviestar phone line, but I believe standard broadband is pretty poor?

Thanks,

We have fibre broadband in Benimar II

Telfy do it and we get about 45/50 mb on an old laptop.. could get more on a desktop.

Good luck..

No-one does Fibre in Quesada yet as far as I'm aware......... It is starting to become available on the Costa but sadly not Rojales/Quesada as yet.
Good luck

Thanks - you do wonder why these companies don't work together, how hard would it have been to put in the fibre cables when they had all the road up for the gas mains!

Looks like I'm back to Moviestar or the dish option. Will the Telfy signal be good enough for IPTV?

Yes it is, we run Skynetlink / Telfy as one of our test ISP services.

We have no issues with any of the tested IPTV services with this ISP provider.

Neither Benimar 1, 2 or 3 are in Quesada, that's why we can't get to Mercadona via Rojales Hills. I believe Benimar 1 belongs to Benijofar, Benimar 2 and 3 belong to Rojales (not in Quesada curtilage).

To lay fibre in Quesada will be a nightmare, I spoke with a local provider who said all the existing cable ducts are full and it will need all the roads opened up to lay the ducts. It then depends on which streets you fibre, it is possible to lay the cables to distribution points (cabinets) and then go copper cable to the customer premises (the distance on copper is critical and will not be as good as fibre 100%) The losses on copper are much greater than fibre which limits the speed {m/bytes}.
As most people will realise the haphazard road system we have in Quesada is not conducive to a favourable plan. I think it will be a long time coming.
