Freesat Problem

Sky have made some changes over a period, which seem to go mainly unnoticed.
What they seemingly have done is lower the BER - Bit error ratio on some of the channels. I am not an expert on the this subject, though I believe that reducing the BER in effect reduces the corrective algorithm for missing data - so we have the same frequencies for said channels, but on the fringe of reception, the errors in the signal are not being as efficiently corrected = a weaker signal or one not as stable. No need for it at all, other than Sky trying to make life difficult for those overseas on satellite?
As others also mention - Quesada can be a bit of a minefield signal wise, really does depend on where you are. At the top of Quesada near Harry's? bar there is a block of flats (locally known as the CIA building!) as it has so many microwave masts. Sunbathe on that roof and your internal organs will get cooked So much interference round that location.
The other issue is this type of localised interference is quite hard to spot, can come and go - and when you find out there are over 100 wireless internet companies and others broadcasting/rebroadcasting on grey area microwave frequencies, combined with an utter ineptitude of local authority to police the airwaves properly - you are left with the odd and strange pockets of interference - which can cause issues with the satellite dish frequency and also often other people's internet (wimax) type systems.
We have gone to install internet before and found we couldn't get a signal near a mast -logic says its fine, practically, someone else is stepping outside there predefined frequency bandwidth and causing trouble for others - this seems to almost be a unique expat area Spain thing - as these type of interference or broadcasting out of bandwidth are far more strictly monitored elsewhere.
Bottom line - potentially a combination of Sky weakening the signal on the fringe, by weakening correction data & a little-localised noise/interference which can pull down the signal overall or on some specific frequencies.
IPTV does not have these issues, so you can get all channels - as well as other services such as catchup, however, you need to make sure your internet is ok.
