Freesat problems

Freesat problems

Postby walnut » Sun Aug 30, 2020 1:47 pm

For the last 3 weeks we lost our signal from the dish. Since last Monday we get all the programmes from 7am but then the signal automatically goes off at 12.30 and doesn't return until the following day. Any advice?

You need to get your dish looked at. Could have moved a bit so not getting the signal. Could have something inside the LNB like a wasp or something crawling round inside. Have a look yourself and see if you can see anything.
Not the weatherconditions at the moment because we have all the signals.
If you are using a set top box, try unplugging it from the mains, leave a minute and plug back in. It could kick it back in to life if that's the problem.
Television Technology advertises on here and are very good at solving problems. Their ad should appear on this page.
(just odd if it goes off at 1230 each day, though.)

Check the leads to your dish for corrosion which can be affected by temperatures explaining why the system works at different times of day. This happened to ours.

The dish has probably moved - or as Marcliff mentions something up with the LNB.

If a dish is right on the edge of reception it is possible that a slight variation of the signal during the day, maybe enough to throw it off. The signal does vary throughout the day, can be as much as 5%

It could also be possible - though rare, that very nearby someone is doing something that is interfering with the electrical system. We've seen HAM radio & bad wiring within communities cause the odd issue - pool pumps - but again, more if a community system. If private, then more likely the dish needs a tune and LNB check. Unless nearby someone is switching something on which is interfering at the precise time - hopefully not this as more difficult to track down.

If wanting to have a service technician review - would suggest booking the slot for when they can see the fault occur.
