Many thanks for your replies and advice.

Am going back to the UK next week so will live without box now until I return in new year.

I get as far as choosing a tv programe and when the "working" message comes on it is only for a split second!!!
then it reverts to the last screen, i.e. choose a channel. this is on mobdro.
Tuning into the first choice that I had packed up about a year ago.
The TV works fine on Spanish TV regards,Scrub aca Peter

The issue is the Britbox - is using Kodi apps (used to be called XBMC) it is a mashup of various systems and homebrew applications.

Part of the issues will be the freely available apps providers have been served legal notices - so script failed may be something as simple needing an update an app or may well be it has stopped being updated and will not work, due to it is no longer being supported.

There are better systems now - not boxes with multiple apps and 'workarounds', but integrated solutions, where you have a singular piece of software, program guide, catch up, on demand altogether, no searching, no apps and a hosted service with a defined channel list.

Totally agree with Paul, antthong Kodi powered is bound to need updating and tweaking on a regular basis and they’re more trouble than they’ve worth. The clamp-downs by the authorities on the people pushing the data to the streams is simply speeding-up the need for updates.
Save yourself the hassle and go for one of Paul’s IPTV systems.

Hi, the issue I believe is the Brit Box is using the filmon streams, which used to be free and are now not - so box is probably accessing these for a couple of mins, before getting booted off, by filmon. If this is the case, not much can be done about this.

The issue is the Britbox is a fudge of a few applications/systems, some of which are not working as they were a couple of years back - firstly there are no free to air IPTV terrestrials (officially) & secondly Britbox was (is?) using a load of Kodi (formerly XBMC apps) many of which are not supported anymore. Basically a custom solution with a number of old or unsupported applications, which ultimately is likely to cause user issues or simply non-functioning services.

I am not entirely sure if this is a workable system anymore? For free to air, satellite system, one-off may be a good option for you - if looking for an IPTV solution or more premium type content as well, the likes of the Britbox have been surpassed with newer equipment and hosted services, which do the job better and easier. Main difference is new IPTV hardware is not a fudge of services, much more like Sky/Freesat, a single integrated solution - no multitude of various applications to watch TV - bypassing these 'get it for free' but rarely work, type of apps - which are ok for 5 minutes.....

Herein lay part of the problem - any half-intelligent illegal worker/odd jobber can get on youtube and figure it out (which is what I generally now advise people to do themselves). Of course they'll give you the best advice - not people that have worked for IT & technology companies for years and whose job it is to test & support such devices  People eventually find out the reality themselves - spend cheap, spend twice/again.

Sarcasm aside - the issue is this - yes you can rebuild a Kodi box, but the 'one off fee' does not exist - as within a matter of days/weeks one of the apps will fall over - and streams, as is quite common, are not that stable or get blocked - there is no one anywhere 100% can promise or guarantee anything that is not privately hosted or any Kodi application or guarantee any specific channels (not possible you don't control or own it) - so someone going around making any sort of promise or giving positive advice on Kodi nowadays is a 5 minute wonder and NOT telling you everything, which I would question - an odd jobber looking to make a few euros ?? by the time you would have phoned them more than a couple of times, you'll soon realise the obvious - there's a reason why its the cheapest option - as it is the worst. Aggro.

I had 4+ years of supporting XBMC / Kodi and real experience dealing with a good few hundred clients with this type of hardware/software has told me THANK GOD IT'S OVER !! - most support and advice time used on any software/equipment. Ever. I would also estimate 90% of the original Kodi users we dealt with in the early days, have moved to other services and hardware, which is both easier to use and does not have the same type of issues as Kodi.
