Information on Mag250 IPTV box please

HI Garry, just seen - I try to not look at computer screens on a Sunday! I see this has been dealt with already.

Looks like someone reset your Freesat box & was this, rather than a signal issue - a box one. One of the quirks of using UK equipment such as this in Spain - it does work, though can be the odd usage difference which can cause an issue.

For reference - for others both SKY & Freesat boxes need to see a single frequency where the data sits for the program guide. If the box does not see this one signal (even if others ok), this can stop it booting up. Whereas a receiver designed to work europe/worldwide if signal weak, will boot, but you will have missing channels - Sky/Freesat you may be looking at a blank screen, even if some if not all signal present.

Paul we have Minix box, which has been great but is now 3/4 yrs old, we started up with genesis, which went then Kodi, , moved here and have paid for a year, which was fine but lately it’s been a pain, we only use it to watch films, but losing them then getting them. Back but not necessarily the latest, I know there have been problems so suggestion please, have been wondering about a fire stick but not sure that will be any bette?

At a guess - you may have been offered a cracked or hacked Amazon stick. If you have been given the sales patter of it has everything for free on it - then chances are, that is the case. The Amazon stick is an android unit, with an Amazon, skin/software sitting on the top.

Amazon has it's own paid for service prime video and works alongside the paid hosted type companies, Netflix etc for the apps. I suspect you may be getting nothing but a cracked Amazon stick, which will work same way as Minix - IE has Kodi on it - not free and unecumbered (or stable) access to the Amazon store.

In short - these are same as, but a stick version. To make matters worse, Amazon seeks to block 'unofficial' software on their devices, so meddling with Amazon sticks, may end up with a bricked non-functional device at some point - either way no improvement to existing service, for a different service, something akin to this - https://tvtech.sharepoint.com/Pages/britishiptv.aspx (link may change as new website due). Simple facts - anything approaching a half decent service you will pay a hosting fee for, as it costs to host as well as for the content! Whether be IPTV service, Netflix, Amazon - Kodi & the like has changed over the last few years and is not as stable as it used to be (not that is was ever brilliant). Lots of apps and difficult to use, hosted / subscription hardware - simple, like Sky box.
