Internet installation speed

Internet installation speed

Postby white_hart » Fri Jun 03, 2016 1:48 pm

Hi. We're compelting on a property in the area at the beginning of July, and we're staying in the property for a few days before heading back to the UK.

Just wondering how long it takes to set up an internet connection. As I'm sure a lot of you are aware - in the UK you can order your broadband connection, and the provider will give you a "switch-on" date 2 or 3 weeks in the future, and I wondered whether it's the same in Spain.

Ideally, we'd like our internet connection up and running before we leave.

I've contacted Skynetlink (who seem to be highly recommended) a couple of times via their "Contact us" page, but I'm not sure whether the messages are getting through...there are no replies from them anyway!

Cheers!

Can´t say for any other... but SKYNET LINK did ours the day after we signed up...

It will also depend if the Fibre-optic cable goes past your place...

I signed up to Skynetlink and initially thought they were not responding to emails. However, I discovered their replies in my Hotmail junk folder. As soon as I marked them as safe, all came though ok. They were actually responding within the hour of my emails. Also they agreed a date within the week and turned up slightly early. It may be worth checking your junk or spam folder.

You can call them on 0034 966 190 904 take option 2 to speak in English. We use them and can't recommend them highly enough. Good luck with it.

All very helpful answers - thank you! Sounds like Skynetlink are the way to go. I've checked my junk mail and there's nothing there though!

So...this all leads me to another question.

If the current owners of the property don't cancel their internet connection (with Ole) for whatever reason, would the new provider still be able to do their installation on a given day?

Cheers!

Ole IMO have the worst customer service record of any company.

Basing on seeing the level of complaints against them on local forums - over a considerable period of time. Last month, many customers were off over a week while they resolved a technical issue. Their speeds and stability is generally not good - if Skynetlink can give you coverage, chances are you'll get better speed and service.

Skynetlink were fine with us... just don´t believe what you see on their flyer. You really MUST talk to them and they will explain why the flyer says 100mgps or even 300mgs and you will only get 30 or 40...

For us, it is still good value though..

I have a fibre connection in Benimar with Skynetlink. They promised me 50mbps and I pay around 24 euros per month ( internet only). I have consistently had more than 50mbps ( generally around 57mbps download and c 10mbps upload. The upload speed is better than I get in the UK with 'superfast broadband'. Had to book the installation about 2 - 3 weeks in advance. They had a problemwith the line in the road on the day they came and had to dig up some pavement to get me connected. But they did it that day, then replaced the pavement bit ( in better condition than it had been) and came back the next day to get me set up. The girls in the Rojales shop are very helpful .Highly recommended. Have read on this forum that they are also good even with non-fibre connections.
