we are supposed to have 600mb, its very fast but look on here for what you actually get.

Very interesting I tried this link and it shows 74mbs With Vega Fibra I’m paying for a supposed 1000mbs but testing with Ookla the test they use it shows just 79mbs Now there may be a reduction due to work being carried out for example but closer examination of my Ookla history tells the best I’ve had recently was 107 mbs on 2 January. I’ve asked VF for comment

Im averaging around 50mb on different devices.

We’ve been with Telfy for almost 3 years, very fast and reliable and costs €34 a month.

Hi,
I'm with Vegafibre. When we moved here last May I ordered Internet,TV and Landline.
I don't use the TV because I find it is limited and buffers a lot, The landline was never delivered and I make do without it and I pay €19.90 per month for internet only.
Remember when checking MBPS it is the speed to the router that is quoted by the supplier not to your device.

Morning all :-),

Your all probably aware but just in case, trick told by friend who works in the internet/telephone trade is to completely power down router and reboot on a regular basis.
Not sure why or how but it would appear even an internet router gets lazy and complacent here in the sun. ;-)

Have a good day.

When doing Speed test please do it on a Ethernet cable, WIFI may well be slower than your broadband. Obviously this can only be done on a device with an ethernet port lol! Also try a few different ones to get an average. Ookla and Google are fine

Your correct re the Ethernet cable. However, I’ve just had an e mail from Vega Fibra telling me I’m contracted at €19.90 month for 1000mb. And I’m getting today 66mb albeit over wifi. I think the difference is too great to be down to wifi. Vega Fibra insist I’m getting 1000mb at the modem.
Why am I smelling a rat . I’ve asked for an engineer today or tomorrow. I’ve just had a hip replacement and not fit to start rigging up my laptop and an Ethernet cable just to test it

Sounds to me like WIFI is the issue Ron. Thats a good price for a 1000Mb connection thats for sure.

If you want fibre it depends which companies have laid cables on your street. We have 300Mbps from Telfy, internet only, for €24 per month. I get very nearly that on my phone on wifi, but around 100Mbps on my android box which is connected by ethernet cable. They say the latter is the limitations of the box. Either way it's plenty enough speed for what most of us use it for.

Paul thats probably a 100Mb port on the Android box, so that makes sense. Most ethernet connections now are a Gigabit (1000Mb)
