ITV X help/advise needed

ITV X help/advise needed

Postby kevinchetwynd » Sat Apr 01, 2023 10:52 pm

When we are watching a programme through ITV X after about 10 minutes
the screen displays a message “something went wrong”
and it keeps appearing on & off.
We are with DVB Lab on 200 mb.
When we did a speed check tonight it gave readings between 77-99
Is anyone else out there experiencing the same.?

Yes talk to DVBLabs but what are you using for a VPN, that's more likely to be where the problem is than with your core Internet service.

Not with DVBLabs but I use SmartDNSproxy and have no problems whatsoever either with ITV X nor any of the other UK streaming services.

Doubt it is DVBLabs, but your VPN having issues with ITVX. Or it is ITVX, as it seems they (or rather lots of users) have had lots of problems since it launched. And ITVX does seem to be very proactive with regards to blocking VPNs.

Speedchecks dont tell the whole story, and just mentioning speeds is rather useless. Key thing to look at is the stability of the connection (eg jitter / ping) and how stable it is, as most internet based systems happily work on 5Mbps. Forget tests like ookla, use nperf, and look at the stability of the result graphs. Graphs show how good the connection is along the whole test, not just an "average" number that is meaningless.

This may be irrelevant, but have you cleared the cache and tried disconnecting it from the mains for at least 30 seconds.

We used to get this message from time to time, but not lately. ITVX was launched in a bit of a rush and there were a lot of bugs in the early days. The problem might be with your vpn, try changing the server, but it is not with DVBLabs. We use nordvpn and do not have problems.

In the words of Mandy Rice Davis, "they would say that wouldn't they!"

I use Nord and my 4k Freesat box is having all sorts of issues this past week. Fine on phones and tablets and PC, but the 4k Freesat box is a nightmare at the momenent.

So issues can also arise for the OP depending what device they are using...some will work others may not.

And looking around internetland this morning, seems lots of people are having issues with ITVX not working...even in the UK. "some shows working, many others not"...so just the normal ITVX service then

Playing ITV X at this very instant, no problems at all - as usual.
