Meganet - Mega Installation Costs

Meganet have been posting flyers around our area recently (I'm on Calle Quevedo) saying they will be offering fibre-optic internet connections with costs ranging from 15 to 30€ a month. I gave them my details to be contacted when they were ready.

Got a call today asking me to go in to the office to get some more information - only to be told that cabling the area up has been very costly and they want a 600€ installation fee! Anyone else have any similar experiences?

I thought this work was being subsidised by the EU or am I wrong about that?

Similar story for my parents in Calle Quevedo. Honestly just happy to finally be able to get fiber in the house. They also offered 3 months free service.
Heard someone across the street got an installation fee of EUR 1000, due to them having a house on the corner, probably further away from the cable.
Compared to the alternatives available for internet and TV in that area, you will have it paid off within a year and enjoy (hopefully) much faster and reliable service.

Not sure if the work if subsidised by the EU.

Even with the 3 months free, it works out at 72.50 € a month over a year - that's still silly money.

I'm getting 30MB on standard ADSL at the moment. It's perfectly good for Netflix and HBO and I have a satellite dish for the TV. The kind of money Meganet want just isn't worth it.

I dont live in your área but 600€ sounds ridiculous to me. I pay 25€/ month to get 300Mb/s in Guardamar.

I would keep the ADSL connection waiting for another company to arrive there. Movistar is the one with more km installed in Spain.

Check the flyer, there is amy price of installation. There is not legal to ask for money that is not there and I think they can not ask for different price just because you are in the corner of a street.

Ask in the town all is another company is going to install finer there soon.

If you got good stable ADSL, I would stick with that. We only had unstable wimax at 5/5 mbits, so it was an easy choice. Currently 25 EUR for wimax, 25 EUR for TV. It will pay off over time.
I am just happy someone bothered installing fibre in the old parts of Quesada.

nope its probably right. I investigated WIMAX, which is 300mbs broadband sent to your house by a point to point microwave link. It was E50 a month and E500 installation.

I declined the offer.
