Mobile signal booster aerial

Mobile signal booster aerial

Postby traceracing » Thu Dec 09, 2021 1:06 pm

We live at the bottom of a hill and as a result we have very poor mobile phone signal... akin to Basil Fawlty trying to get a signal by convoluting on the solarium....mostly unsuccessfully. No signal indoors at all and watsapp used extensively via WiFi

I've heard of "booster aerial's" which amplify the signal so you can use the phone indoors. Does anyone have any knowledge / experience of them and can recommend a supplier?

TIA

Boosters are available but apart from being expensive because they rebroadcast the signal from the phone they therefore require a licence which you will never be granted.

Have you really tried all providers?

There are only 4 core networks in Spain.

Vodsfone
Orange
Movistar
Yoigo

All other operators piggyback into one (or in one or two instances more) of those so can never provide a better service than the core network they work on.

To check out those 4 networks you will need prepaid SIM from each.

A Femto cell could be a solution but I dont know if they are available in Spain.

Not all masts are mobile phone cells, do you know for certain that the one you mention is?

Yes I do know for certain
The Femtocell requires a connection to the mobile network operator. This is typically via a fixed line, be it cable, fibre-optic or a twisted pair telephone line. no good where I live as no connection to the provider is possible only line of sight I looked at this a few years ago
