My mobile number

My mobile number

Postby Marky Boy » Fri Nov 22, 2019 10:47 am

Hi,
My wife and I will be moving to Quesada shortly and we were wondering if it is possible to move our UK mobile numbers here rather than having to get new ones. We will probably go on a SIM only plan once we have moved. We would be grateful for any advice.

You can't port a UK number to a Spanish provider if that's what you're asking.

Check with your supplier what thier fair usage is, usually only get the same rates for 3 months or so, then you will probably be told you will attract roaming charges.

Also you need to consider that post brexit British mobiles might not be in zone 1 anymore when it comes to roaming charges as UK will be outside the EU.
And dont forget if you live her and folk need to contact you who have spanish phones it will be expensive for them to call you, and vice versa

Perhaps a dual sim phone is the answer for you if you need to keep your UK number live

That’s your comprehensive answer. Indeed I would have said similar and a dual sim phone seems the best solution. Retain UK number on that sim and add a sim from someone like lobster for Spanish number.

Although if you’re moving to Quesada, a mobile signal is a bonus, let alone porting numbers.

We have been in Spain for about 2.5 years, and have not had any problems with "fair usage" policies- although I am aware that it might be a problem at some point in the future.

I use 3 mobile in the UK as they had free roaming in Europe before it was made mandatory by the EU and they have assured people that it will continue regardless of Brexit.
