Netflix, Disney and Amazon Prime
Netflix, Disney and Amazon Prime
by wilsonm10 » Sun Oct 31, 2021 7:32 pm
Hi
So just a question around streaming, I can access my UK Netflix and Disney (which came free with mobile) streaming services in Spain but Amazon gives me a licencing message, however I can still access some Amaxon Prime productions and Spanish licenced programmes on Amazon.
I know I can use a VPN to get round this, to get access to UK programmes and live channel services on the UK Amazon prime, researching VPN now, I am assuming I need to access a UK based VPN server. Is this correct ?
Any other ideas to get around this
Thanks

I use channelhopper.tv to do the same thing. It works on your home network only, i.e. it's not portable anywhere you go, but very effective. I've found some VPNs hit and miss as broadcasters get cleverer at blocking them.
It's also not a VPN exactly so doesn't involve selecting servers etc. It works very well for Sky Go, Prime, Netflix, and all the UK catch ups like BBC iPlayer etc.
If you use a VPN you will need to choose a UK-based server, yes.

Even with a VPN you cannot access the live tv channels on Amazon Prime (U.K.)

Amazon, Netflix, and ITVHub are very hot on detecting VPNs and SmartDNS services, and it is getting harder and harder for the VPNs to keep up. What may work using one VPN on one device for one person, may not work for another person on another device. Yes, it can be that picky.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that I can access Netflix when I am in Spain without any VPN etc.
Interestingly the titles available are slightly different from the UK.
As an example the series 24 is available on Netflix in Spain but not in the UK.
I haven't tried Amazon Prime and I don't subscribe to Disney.

That is down to the fact the programems are sold to broadcasters / streaming services on a country by country basis.
It is the same for Netflix, Amazon, Disney etc.
The only content that will be common across, say the whole of Netflix, will be content actually made by Netflix etc

No problem. It's the best and most consistently good option I've come across. Also flexible payments by the month, quarter or year etc depending on what you need. And good support if you ever need it. Hopefully it stays that way as I rely on it for Sky Go especially!
