PREPAID SIM CARD

PREPAID SIM CARD

Postby Jean-Luc » Wed Aug 03, 2016 11:21 am

Hello,

I come for a few months in Quesada...I should like to buy a PREPAID SIM PHONE CARD.

What is the best operator?
How much cost a basic card?Without Internet!
Where can I buy it?

Thanks,

Jean

Plenty of places to buy one. The post box in Dona Pepa, the card shop in the centre of town and many other ones. All the companies do SIM cards. I use Llamaya which I got from the card shop and you simply buy a card for 5, 10, 15 or whatever euro and key in the code to get the credit. I did have Lebara from the Post box but the coverage was not so good.
Be aware that you will need your passport to buy a SIM card from anywhere in Spain.
You can also top up your phone via the internet and a credit/debit card. Also be aware that some only allow non-usage for a certain amount of time, in Movistar it used to be 3 months and with Llamaya it is 6 months. If the credit is not topped up in that time then the number is taken off and reused. I just stick 5 euro on before the 6 months is up and have had no problems.

I had a cheap phone at my Holiday home in Turkey and topped up the Pay as You Go sim each time I visited but after 8months the Sim became useless and Vodaphone wanted to charge me a 'tourist fee' of £20 for a replacement sim - rip off and waste of time
At the moment Vodaphone is charging the same as UK for EU calls & Texts so it defeats the purpose of buying another 'cheap' sim - as I'm sure the other mobile companies will follow suit!
