Problems with IPTV

For IPTV Ethernet is always to be preferred over WiFi, there are rarely any exceptions to that.
It's not that you CAN'T use it only that you don't want to but without at least trying you won't be able to eliminate the problem being with the WiFi which, despite the close proximity, can still be a definite possibility.

That is true.. I could try it, but I really don´t want to burn the house down..
Call me picky but I would put my house still standing over a good TV picture..

Thanks jpeg,
I would have to bury the wire in the wall to avoid the fire.
As there is no guarantee that it would solve the problem anyway (bearing in mind my TV provider is saying it is the Fibre company that is "throtteling" the signal) I am not convinced that digging holes in my wall is the way to go at the moment..
But thanks for the suggestions..

It can take 2 or three reboots every morning before a channel will come through..
Is this referring to the router or the Mag box as a router needs to have been running for a few days befor it gets to a really good stable signal, if the MAG box then ask supplier for a more uptodate box

I tend to leave the router alone most of the time...
The box is less than a year old.. I suggested to the TV supplier that he lends us a different box just to test it, but he said that as it was the the Fibre Company it would not make any difference..
I have emailed the Fibre company to tell them what my TV supplier said but don´t anticipate a satisfactory response. As it is weekend I expect I will hear from them sometime this week..
Thanks for the interest..

I have a Mag 254 box which, along with the TV and the GI box I also run, is fully powered down every night, it has never once failed to perform perfectly after the first boot in the morning.
If yours needs more than it suggests that either the box is failing or more likely there is a problem with the IPTV provider.
Hard to understand the reluctance to swap the box even temporarily, it would instantly prove that element and you'd think a provider would be keen to help you identify where the problem was - unless they already know it's with them in which case of course they will naturally try and deflect the blame to the ISP.

I unplug the box every night and there can be problems when it reboots... not every time, but enough to be really annoying..
I also cannot see why the TV supplier will not lend me a box as that would probably prove either way what the problem is..but they seem adamant that the problem is with the Fibre company "throtteling" the signal (whatever that is)...
But as I do not wish to go down to the Company and personally throttle them I am a bit stuck.. I expect they will say it is not them.... my TV supplier have said it is not them.. so I am stuck unless someone can come up with a solution (that does not include burning down the house..)

get someone to lend you a box
also have a check on this page https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+ ... e&ie=UTF-8
Do a speed test using fast.com not the one Telfy use as that goes through their server and they can tell when you are using it so can increase the download speed when you do it

For speed test I usually use ookla and get about 70/80... using Fast.com it says 92..
so speed is okay right now..(1.55pm). but it could go up and down depending on volume I suppose... but I would have thought that at 8.00am it would be as good as it gets..
..Thanks for the interest again..
