Satellite finder/meter

Satellite finder/meter

Postby Paul58 » Sat Sep 28, 2019 1:18 pm

Hi,

Does anyone know where a can buy a satellite meter locally? (I live near Formentera Del Segura).....Or does anyone have one that I could borrow/hire for a few days?

We have old 1.4M dish on the solarium and I'm looking to move it to point at one of the Astra's at 28.2E. It's pointing way out at the moment.
We normally use IPTV but I'm looking for a backup for when the service/internet goes down again.

Many thanks

I think you can buy them from Media Market or Go Satelite in Quesada on Calle Los Arcos, also in Torrevieja at I think they are called ClimaSat near Iceland.

Thanks both,

I thought "Go satellite" was an installation company, didn't realise they were stockists, I'll give them a try when I'm next in Quesada. I've already tried AKI & Carrefour.

Jpeg, I've used this to get the elevation & azimuth..... https://www.dishpointer.com/
My compass & protractor attempts are a bit Heath Robinson. :? I just heed to find tune for max signal strength.

Cheers. :text-thankyouyellow:

Personally, I wouldn’t waste money on the cheap alignment meters. Unless you’re prepared to spend more on a system that gives you detailed info on both the horizontal and vertically polarised signals then you’d be better-off getting a professional in. These systems usually have a built-in tuner and screen and allow you to view the channels and the associated signal strength.

Go satellite do not sell meters - installation / maintenance.

Generally most usual electronic high street retailers, do not sell this type of equipment. Decent stuff is commercial & cheap meters - ebay.

As Pete states above - you can buy cheap alignment meters which just beep when near a satellite, then you hope its 28 and not 26 BADR. Then you need to find the sweet spot between the different satellites at 28 deg - 2E, 2F, 2G of the relevant channels. This is not possible on a cheap meter as it doesn't have all the information on screen to do so.

It's not that you can't tune a dish on a cheap meter, it's just difficult and it won't be tuned as well as a competent technician with €1500 - €5000 worth of spectrum analyser. You can spend less on a meter than this, some half decent ones around €350-€500 for home use. But you can probably get something off ebay for €20, just expect it to be crap.

Hi,

We charge €299 for a 1.4 install

Tecatel Gold model (better than Famaval), dish, 60mm mount (usually 40mm), LNB, single cable connection.

HD receivers from €80 and hybrid models (Satellite + IPTV) are available from €120
