I managed to get my Sim 'cut'. Thanks for all the advice.

However, I have discovered an odd problem.
It is a UK sim card from TalkTalk - supposedly with calls/text roaming enabled (I'm currently in Spain).

I have tried it in 2 phones, with the same result...

Making calls (or texts) to a UK or Spainish phone, no problem.
Receiving calls (or texts) from a UK phone, no problem.
Receiving texts from a Spanish phone, no problem.

But...
Receiving calls from a Spanish phone - doesn't work! ie calling from a Spanish phone says 'unable to connect'
(I'm using the +44 prefix then 7xxx... as normal)

So it seems to be some sort of roaming issue or even a faulty sim. If anyone has an idea I'd be most grateful.
