Sky TV

Since having our place in Spain I have used a spare Sky Box on our Community dish feed and bring my 2nd Multiroom viewing card out with me when I come and it works fine . . .
I have always assumed that if I were to plug in my box to the internet to get enhanced catchup / boxsets etc Sky might detect the Spanish IP address, not like me doing it and block my card . . . . is this correct or have people connected up with a similar setup and had no problems?

Would be good to have the extra options . . . .

It won't work straight out of the box.

I have not heard of someone having their card blocked if detected, though it is possible. Your box WILL detect Spanish IP and will simply not allow access to online services - including all on demand and catch up.

It is possible to make the Sky box work, by use of a secondary flashed VPN router, which would need to have a hosted subscription VPN and then daisy chained to your main router. SIMPLE STUFF  You can buy this on the web & is an effort to set up the router, so need to prepurchase in that manner or have someone setup who knows what they are doing. We offered a little while back and not much demand and costs start to mount, so most did not find economical.

Also with the advent of more IPTV type services, you can now get much of the type of content you are looking for catch up, on demand as well as the premium type channels with IPTV services from around €20 per month. If you start factoring in multiroom card costs, VPN flashed routers, subscription to VPN service - equation starts to look that may not be the most economical solution.

I use Smart DNS Proxy to make my Spanish IP address look like a UK one. Works very well and allows access to BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub etc.

They do a free 2 week trial, so see if it works for what you want.

What areas do they serve.
We use Fresh tv but get fairly frequent problems. They aren't very professional and their customer service is dreadful.
Customer service announcements are often rude and virtually impossible to understand .
