Telfy Fiber speed

Telfy Fiber speed

Postby 2Sheds » Wed Mar 20, 2019 8:57 pm

I've recently had Telfy 50Mbs installed. Over the last few days I've notice that the speed is not as consistent as it was say 2 weeks ago. Previously I got a download speed that was always in excess of 50 Mbs, even on my wifi laptop. Now it seems to vary more throughout the day, sometimes dropping to below 40Mbs.

Just wondering what factors could be causing this. Could it be that the number of local users has increased?

Any comparisons of comments from other Telfy customers would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I've been told that the speed drops off when you use wifi.
Try hard wiring your laptop and check it out.

First things first, how are you testing ?

Secondly. other than business with costly private leased lines few if any are likely to see a consistent flat speed across the day and variation to one degree or another is the expected norm, I'm sure Telfy will not have not promised you 50mb in writing !

There are myriad potential causes for speed variations varying from time of day to interference in the WiFi frequency band to mention just a couple.

Thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, a difference in speed between 40 and 50mb should have no appreciable effect on the vast majority of common web activities so if the speed variation isn't materially hampering you in doing whatever it is you are trying to do online then perhaps the answer is to stop testing !!!!

I find Telfy are excellent, good service and quick to respond if you do have a problem
The speed does vary but all internet services are subject to fluctuations otherwise we wouldn’t need speed check apps !! Lol
