Telitec warning

Telitec warning

Postby garysl » Wed Sep 30, 2020 1:22 pm

When we bought our house, in September 2015, we inherited a pay as you use internet contract with Telitec. I wasn't impressed with their customer service and told them I no longer wished to use their services, during a telephone call I made (when I eventually got through) to complain. That was that and I haven't heard from them since.
Today, I received an invoice for 12.10 euros, from Telitec, and noticed that a new direct debit, dated the 25th of September, had been created on my bank account and the money taken out.
I have emailed Telitec and they have replied that I had not given written notice of cancellation! I haven't spoken to anyone from Telitec in 4 years and have never used their service in that time and never received a bill or correspondence from them.
If you once had a contract with Telitec, please check your bank account.

I'd suggest with ANY telecommunications or other company which has your direct debit/bank details - that if you are cancelling a service - before you do so, you stop/block and future debits - which with most online banking services, you can now do.

I have lost count the number of times, I've heard stories of people cancelling a TV or internet contract & then found shortly after some BS admin charge come out - they know you are not going to sue them - too much time and effort, so it's just a 'fingers up' at you for leaving. If you block the direct debit or access before you cancel in writing (usually need a 1 months notice - so one more payment may come out) - then after you cancel they cannot pull that stunt.

Used to get a call a day from old Torresat customers who this happened to all the time - but seemingly quite a few companies try this.
