Even without actual measurement the simple fact that users connected to cabinets 1 & 2 had recovered the full bouquet of channels whilst those on cabinet 3 were missing some should have prompted them to investigate and at least find out what the problm was and tell you, saying 'job done' and walking away was unprofessional.

I don't know what company this is relating to - so I have no bias about this. It's not important.

I think you are being a little unrealistic - as to notice a couple of frequencies missing out of 100+ is unlikely to be spotted initially, until someone would report missing channel or two.

In the real world I have never seen any service technician sit and check through every single frequency output on every multi switch output point as time wise, would make the job 'unworkable' and works generally costed out hourly/technicians time. If you want to make the job more than 10 x the size and cost, then like a science experiment, you could check every single variable.

Practically a number of assumptions have to be made around a set of various frequencies, that if in place all ok - and then if not the case (as per this instance), the company can come back and tweak it ever so slightly.

As i've mentioned before, we pick up fringe reception and signal values between channels vary considerably, in comparison for a satellite signal being picked up in the country it is designed to. As soon as you hit fringe reception you can find Vertical frequencies perform better than Horizontal. Low Horizontals in Spain can be harder to received than higher up the bandwidth, it's a juggling act. Add that to coaxial cable (not fibre) of variable lengths (and condition), does make this not always the simplest of tasks and also one reason why not many smaller companies either don't get involved with community systems, or put them in not too well in the first place!

Add a drop in signal strength due to a change of satellites in the last 4 years & channel frequencies which have also moved around - and the answer is you need to know EXACTLY what you are doing and experienced in the local area as there are some considerable reception and performance differences.

None of this mentions other variables such as the odd remaining microwave rebroadcast companies, that can throw the odd spanner in the works in some local locations, by their illegally strong signal washing over the satellite ones.

Torrevieja and surrounding was a little while back noted as one of the worst areas of interference - this was when Torresat / Simulsat and Superbeam were in full swing - not so bad now, but we do see pockets of interference from time to time cause issues with satellite systems private and community.

General assumptions based on reception in other locations or countries, may cause some misunderstanding down to variables above mentioned.

Whilst IPTV does offer a number of benefits, many communities have installed free to air satellite systems, which pre-date the IPTV. This was done to create an economical solution to receive UK TV, but without an ongoing subscription, for the benefit of the community.

Obviously these need maintaining over a period of time & as technology has moved forwards, as has most of our internet, hence IPTV now. They are different of course, but if you want FTA TV, without internet & highest quality, without ongoing subscriptions, then satellite still offers a good viable option.

Some communities wish to maintain these systems as long term is usually the most economical solution - but best for free to air TV, though if you connect a Sky / Sky multiroom box to an free to air system, you'll find the Sky channels there too - if you have the appropriate subscription.

Obviously for those who have internet and want more than just the free to air channels, or newer features such as on demand TV and catchup, then a good IPTV service is an option.
