Hi all
Looking to buy a place in Dona Pepa, and would like to know the best way to get UK TV. Going to be using as a holiday home, so not over for long periods, but cant go without daily dose of soaps.
Have seen on forum "dvblab", but not sure of total cost and monthly breakdown. Is there anyone out there who is with dvblab and uses there services for UK TV in hoilday home?
Many thanks
Newbie Nick

Hello Nick66,
Welcome to TalkQuesada. Hope you enjoy the forum.
You may have already read all the posts on dvblab so far but here's one that could help you - On this link, one of our members mentions the price/set up cost of the Broadband.......Quote: "It cost 99 euro's (wire less) to install and 19 euro's a month which I only pay for when in Spain".
See more here: http://www.talkquesada.com/broadband-wifi-phone-and-tv-f88/internet-installation-t643.html?hilit=DVBlab#p5319
More on here, with alternative providers as well : http://www.talkquesada.com/broadband-wifi-phone-and-tv-f88/broadband-and-wifi-t463.html
Hopefully you will get some more answers soon but if you haven't seen everything on here about dvdblab, just put 'dvdblab' into the search box, top right, and you will get lots of information.
Good luck with your new holiday home. We have a holiday home on Dona Pepa too and it's a lovely place with plenty going on if you want it.
Look forward to seeing you on the forum - Any help needed, just ask.
Jan.

Hi Jan
Many thanks for info
dvblab does seem a good option for getting UK TV, however are there any other costs ontop of the installation and 19 euros/month? "Quote: "It cost 99 euro's (wire less) to install and 19 euro's a month which I only pay for when in Spain".
Like..., do you have to buy a box to attach to your TV, and pay extra monthly charge, or is there a one off payment?
Great friendly forum by the way , looking forward to some fab times in Quesada / Dona Pepa

With dvblab the cost for internet and phone is €25 a month which includes IVA. The TV (internet based) was free up until last year but they now charge an extra €15 a month for it. Installation is about €100 plus they used to charge an extra €100 for the set top box but I'm not sure if they charge now as there is an extra monthly fee.
The TV is slow with a maximum of 2Mb speeds but it often struggles to get up to that speed with .8 to 1.4 seemingly the norm which can affect the buffering on programmes. You can also get many Swedish/Norwegian/Russian channels on it which broadcasts in English and it turns your TV into a Smart TV giving access to the internet etc. through your TV.
If you aren't here, you can switch it off by email and you won't be charged for that month but, be aware, it must be a full calendar month. You can't, for example, switch it off on the 8th of the month and come back the following month on the 8th. You would have to pay for the full 2 months.
Obviously, the best thing is to get a satellite dish installed for a one off fee and get freesat so there are no further monthly payments but, with the looming change in satellites, you would be better off waiting until you can see what size dish is necessary. Currently a 1.4 metre dish is required to get all the freesat (free to air) channels. Some in the Dona Pepa area with a 1m dish have lost Channel 5 and some other channels after last years changeover.
The dvblab is a small, about 6 inch, dish which picks up the rebroadcasted internet channels which is a plus if you can't have a large dish fitted. Alternatively, with just the internet and a laptop, you can get filmon which gives most of the UK freeview channels but, again, is dependent on your internet speed for buffering etc.
There are other companies offering the same type of packages. We have been with dvblab for a couple of years now but didn't renew the TV option when they started charging for it. We thought it quite expensive after paying for a set top box and having quite jerky TV for a lot of the time. We still use the internet and phone service which is adequate for our net needs and the phone calls to UK are just 1.05 cents a minute but, if you are downloading films/music/large files then it would be no good due to the poor speeds. Our satellite installation is a 1.4m dish and has been the best thing at just €279 for installation and no monthly payments. A Sky box or UK freesat box works excellently and you can pick up one of these from UK for about £30 to £40.

Hi
1.4 metre sat dish plus UK freesat box sounds to be the best option, however I'm not sure if we are able to have a dish on the house we're buying in Dona Pepa, we'll have to check out when we're next over in late November. There doesnt seem to be any houses on the community with 1.4 metre sat dishes.
If we go for the dvblab option, we'd only want broadband and not phone, which is advertised as €19 per month plus €99 for installation. This is as you say switch on/off on a monthly basis. do you know if the €15 extra for TV is also switch on/off?
Therefore would the total cost of UK TV using dvblab (internet TV) be €34 per month on a switch on/off basis?, plus of course the instalation cost.
Cheers all for help, much appreciated

There is another company called Ole who do switch on and off more expansive than DVBLab but from what I have been reading the internet speed is a lot better. We will also be investigating the options as we are over on Sunday for couple weeks finalising our paperwork for holiday home also in Dona Pepa.
Just Google ole spain.

Good day i believe super Beam are quite good, it is a rebroadcast with most of the free to view channels including i believe sky sports 1-2 and they also do a holiday package to switch off when you are not here,
I think the monthly cost is about 30 euros but it does switch off and on as and when you require it once you have contacted them.
Hope this was helpful
