I bought a TP-Link extender over here and it works a treat. You pair the device in the proximity of the router then reposition it. However, you do need a signal, from the router, in the extender's final destination albeit weak.

Hi,
I have one less than 1 year old.
In my last place I needed to use my laptop at one end of my large, long apartment away from the hub point, about 25 metres.
I lost connection at about 20 metres, so was advised by a computer shop in Guardamar to buy the TP Link to get the extra length needed.
Having done so, I have to say, I am disappointed as it cannot be placed at more than about 15 metres before it becomes useless.
It then will work to pick up the signal up to about an additional 10 / 12 metres.
So it was ok for that particular place I lived, but I think it is a waste of money to acquire just a few extra metres.
I do not need it now in my new place, so have it available.
As an idea, you can try and see if it is any good for you.

I use both a TP link wifi extender and TP link powerline adapters.

The powerline adapters use the electrical circuit in your house to enable a good wifi connection away from your router.

WiFi extender v Powerline Adapters?

The extender is the simplest option and cheapest.

The adapters will create another SSID for your network which my, or may not, need to be set up which again, may, or may not, compatible with your technical ability. But they would offer an Ethernet connection in your remote location.

Whatever route you take you would lose that power outlet for unless you purchase 'pass-through' devices which add extra cost.
