Has anyone any experience with wifi extenders i.e do they work? My IPTV on my firestick in my upstairs bedroom keeps freezing wifey driving me bananas.

Yes they do work very well
I have pair for sale unused for 20 euros if you are interested

Best you can get is a “tp link” excellent piece of equipment.

Got the same, top notch!

300Mbps is just a connection speed btw, actual speed of data transfer can only ever be your core broadband speed or a percentage of it.

I have the same both in the U.K. and in Spain. I looked at mesh systems and all the fancy methods and tried these for £20 and they have been excellent.
