WLAN Connection to my Android phone.

So you did a full reset to factory defaults - so the phone prompted you for which language you should use and tried to connect to Wi-Fi before you did a full restore from backup?

Was the connection to the Wi-Fi suas part of the initial setup successful, before you restored the backup?

Followed the instructions to the letter. Everything working ok but STILL saying disconnected. Spoken to Lenovo customer service and saying nothing wrong that end so assuming have exhausted every thing....give up!!!!

Hi Maggie . .
You didn't say whether you couldn't connect to any WiFi (neighbours/bar etc) or just your own?
If it's just yours try turning off router for a fair while (10 minutes plus) and then back on . . Routers like computers hold information in a cache and have a certain amount of backup power when turned off, by leaving it off for a period the backup runs out and the cache is cleared so any glitch relating to your phone is gone . . .

Hello. Yes the neighbours connection is fine. Have cleared all passwords and " forgot" any of the cached user names for our Wifi but haven't switched router of for any longer than 10 seconds or so but will give that a go

Thanks again .

Do you have any other Wi-Fi devices other than your router - a Wi-Fi repeater or range extender for example?

Are other devices, such as your neighbour's phone/tablet/laptop able to connect to your Wi-Fi okay?

Do you know the username and password to log-in to your router, or is it locked-down by your ISP?

Thanks Pete. No other devices other than the router. Haven't tried neighbours devices but our iPhone and laptop connected automatically but then so did my phone. The only mistake I made was to go I the garden automatically disconnected and has stayed the same. We have the username and password have tried that too. Will try next switching the router off for a longer period of time.

So you're saying that your own iPhone and laptop are still able to connect to your Wi-Fi and work perfectly, and that your android phone is able to connect to you're neighbour's Wi-Fi, but not your own?

Switching the router off for longer won't help, the volatile RAM is cleared within a few seconds and the non-volatile RAM is retained no matter how long you switch it off for.

The symptoms you're describing are very odd, especially as you've done a full factory reset and restore on your phone. You didn't answer the question I asked earlier about whether the phone connected to Wi-Fi after the factory reset but before you did the full restore. Normally when you restore a phone to its factory defaults you have to choose your language settings then connect to Wi-Fi, then you can continue with the rest of the set-up - at which point you'd normally restore your settings from the backup.

I assume that you've not changed the name of the phone recently? If it was called something like "Work Phone" before and you've now called it "Maggie's Work Phone" then your router may have issues with the new name, but your neighbour's router may be able to cope with it.

Hi Pete. Yes very odd . We have all three iPhones working and the laptop and the android was perfectly before I went outside . All of them simply connected when we walked through the door.Neither before or after reset had it connected. Somebody had suggested it could be a physical fault with the handset IE the antenna. Unsure whether this is a possibility as surely it wouldn't connect to our neighbours WiFi. At total loss now and out here for another 5 Weeks !!
