Has anyone used the train from Alicante to Valencia?

Has anyone used the train from Alicante to Valencia?

Postby Victor » Wed Jul 01, 2015 4:44 pm

We are planning to spend a few days in Valencia in Sept. Has anyone made this trip before and can give us any info on how or where to book the train. Also should we leave the car in the station carpark? I assume there is a charge for it.

Best probably to ask in Travel agents I suppose. I have heard there is a discountprices for senior citizens.

Any advice would be useful.

We did this journey just recently. We took our hire car back to alicante airport and got the city airport bus ( about 4 euros each) into the renfe station in Alicante. Then we got the renfe train to Barcelona and got off at valencia ( about 10 euros each )but wEquivaent to first class. Valencia old town is brilliant. Tapas at every turn. We we flew back to UK from Valencia. What a good doo! Recommend it !

You can get one of the coach trips (Dave's or Rosa's) to Valencia. €102 for 3 days (2 nights) bed and breakfast in a hotel close to the city centre next to the Nuevo Centro shopping centre.
Brilliant, saves parking fees and they pick up from Consum supermarket or the Arches in Quesada.
Tourist bus (hop on/hop off), Metro and taxi rank just outside the hotel. Also includes a city tour when you arrive so you know where to go and the courier on the bus will give you lots of info on where to get buses, where to go etc.
Possibly the best value trip I've been on (breakfast is fantastic).

We parked our car at the San Isadro (Albetara/Catral) station and got the local train into Alicante then onward to Valencia on the Barcelona fast train. We left our hire car for four days with no problem & the parking was free at that time , two years ago . It's an easy relaxing journey and a beautiful city.

We parked for free at Catral too, easy peasy, was a few years ago, worth checking if it's still free. Also went to Madrid on the train, great.

Yes, parking is still free at San Isidro - Alabatera/Catral station and most other 'local' stations.
If travelling from Alicante to Madrid with pensioner's discount gold card, you get some free parking at Alicante too - I think 48 hours.
