Opencar is a car hire company in Quesada. The office is near the Petrol Station by the arches. The cars can be booked on-line and collected from the airport or collected from the office in Quesada.

Hiya

Just a quick question really, I have reserved a hire car to collect at the airport and return at the office in Quesada. Is the Open Car desk with all the other hire companies at the airport ?

We often do that and the open car van will pick you up at Alicante airport outside on -2 (minus 2) floor level where the coaches wait - Come out turn left and walk to between parking bays 1 and 5 and the van should be there waiting- It will then take you to the hire car lot - Look on their website for further details.
We used to do the desks at the airport and foubd that Opencar is a quicker collection even with the transport to the car hire lot which only takes a minute or so.

Hi,
I have reserved a car to collect today from Opencar in Quesada.
My question is: will they try and get me to buy extra insurance when I get there, like the other car hire companies?

They don't 'push' you to buy any extras at Opencar . We find them very fair but we always have 'insurance4carhire' set up which is only £42.99 per year for Europe (easy to set up in minutes online) https://www.insurance4carhire.com/
This insurance covers any excess and all car hire companies have an excess payable on the event of accidents/damage.

We use Opencar regularly and have had no problems but definitely recommend having the annual excess insurance cover when hiring any car for peace of mind.

With all car hires it's always a good idea to check the car over for scratches /damage while the guy is showing you the car (including underneath the sides, front and back) and point out anything you see before driving away.
Also there needs to be yellow safety jackets (generally x 2 ) in the car and 2 warning triangles in the boot. I always ask for these if they happen to be not in the car.

So I took out the policy for £42.99 using the link you gave to insurance4carhire, then went to Opencar, after obtaining quote and reservation online, based on the favourable experiences you posted above. The lady was great, very helpful, went round the car noting down all marks and scratches on the form. Didn’t try to get me to buy extra insurance, in fact didn’t even mention it at all. Also I was given a better car for the same price, as they had none of the group A cars available which I had booked, which was great.
The best thing is, I saved nearly £200, because that’s how much more Centauro and Paquito wanted in their quotes which included the extra insurance which you have a lot of pressure on you to buy. Even without their extra insurance the quotes were higher anyway.
So thank you Jan for the information and advice, it has been incredibly helpful
