The Government is due to announce a ban on travel within Spain except under special circumstances.
The Government will limit the movement of citizens to the maximum to stop the spread of the coronavirus. All of Spain is formally closed with the development of the decree of the state of alarm. In the draft of the text, which Cadena SER has seen and to which EL PAÍS has had access, the limitations of movements are very clear: Citizens "may only circulate on public roads to carry out the following activities: a) acquisition of food, pharmaceuticals and basic necessities. b) Assistance to health centers. c) Travel to the workplace to carry out their work, professional or business provision. d) Return to the place of habitual residence. e) Assistance and care for the elderly, minors, dependents, people with disabilities or especially vulnerable people.

Still not official yet, based on leaked documents, but likely to be confirmed tonight or tomorrow. Am assuming people will still be allowed to walk out provided they are not in groups and not completely confined to the house? All those dogs needing to be walked... Hope so anyway...don't fancy being completely house bound...

I think the main thinking behind the leak is to get all those holiday home owners from other areas of Spain to return home.

ShivaI hope your assumption is correct. My dog gets two walks a day don along the river Segura, its what he lives for, and it doesn't do me any harm either!

Yeah, can't really see how stopping dog walkers or non dog walkers (like me) on their own and not mixing anywhere would make a positive difference, and pics of Madrid in lockdown still show a few people walking out and about, suspect it will be more about people not doing social stuff and not travelling distances. We'll find out soon enough...

Just seen this from the neighbourhood watch site:-
info from the national government;
As of today, Saturday, freedom of movement will be severely restricted with citizens required to stay at home for the next 15 days.
All of Spain’s regions and autonomous communities will be put under direct government control, including local police forces.
Officers will be given special powers to make ‘checks’ on people, goods, vehicles, buildings and establishments while the state of alarm is in effect.
The Royal Decree issued today says citizens will only be able to use public roads for the following reasons:
1. Acquisition of food, pharmaceuticals and basic necessities.
2. Visits to health centres.
3. Travel to the workplace to perform work or business-related activities.
4. Return to the place of habitual residence.
5. Assistance and care for the elderly, minors, dependants, people with disabilities or especially vulnerable people.
5 Visits to financial entities.
6. Any other activity of an analogous nature duly justified.
The circulation of private vehicles on public roads will only be allowed to carry out the aforementioned activities, or to refuel at petrol stations.
The state of alarm puts all security forces, including the Catalonian Mossos, the Basque Ertzaintza and the local police under the authority of the Interior Ministry.
The Decree adds the army will be drafted in to help make sure the curfew is in affect.
It comes as coronavirus cases have jumped to 5,753 while 138 people have died.

Spain’s government failed to agree on Saturday on a new package of economic and social measures to mitigate the impact of the fight against the coronavirus, a source close to the negotiations told Reuters.
With schools shut across Spain and a first package of economic steps announced on Thursday, the government was expected to go further on Saturday.
The source said ministers disagreed in a seven hour cabinet meeting on Saturday on what the new measures should be. The source added that the government would aim to agree on them on Tuesday.
Prime minister Pedro Sanchez is due to announce emergency measures including the shutting down of most shops in a news conference scheduled for 8pm local time.
