Any Covid 19 cases in the area?
by shap » Wed Apr 01, 2020 1:47 pm
Hi
I returned to the UK in early March from my holiday home in Quesada and was wondering if anyone knew of any confirmed cases in the area. I know everyone is more or less housebound but perhaps someone has heard some news. Be safe everyone please. Observe the rules no-matter how inconvenient

Figures aren't being released for individual towns. Alicante province has had almost 2,000 cases with 315 deaths but no news from areas within. Only one report that 2 people in La Marina had caught it and seems they brought it in with them. There was also a report that one of the workers in the post office in Quesada had caught it which is why the post office closed down for a while and was disinfected but no further news.
As I haven't actually spoken to anyone (except my OH) for the last 2 weeks it makes it a bit difficult to get any news.

The N332 page has listed a report issued by Torrevieja hospital which states his many cases they have, I think , from memory, they said there were 17 in ICU and another 80 infected but not in ICU but the number of cases originating locally are very small numbers
This is the posting from Help Vega Baja
From Información (Torrevieja). Apologies for the translation.
17 patients with coronavirus in the ICU and more than 80 admitted to the ward at the University Hospital of Torrevieja
17 patients with coronavirus in the ICU and more than 80 admitted to the ward at the University Hospital of Torrevieja EFE
The ICU of the University Hospital of Torrevieja is almost at the limit of its capacity. He currently has 17 patients admitted to the pits, all with mechanical respiration. Management prepared a second ICU as an extraordinary measure to take on more coronavirus patients in the post-surgical resuscitation area with half a dozen more places.
The center has a third ICU space for patients not affected by the pandemic and with serious pathologies, as confirmed by this newspaper from health sources. Ribera Salud and the Generalitat Valenciana do not officially report the incidence of the pandemic in the department. They do not offer data on the number of those affected, not even the people who have died .
An entire floor of the hospital center is dedicated to patients with coronavirus . More than 80 patients. Torrevieja Salud has begun to unfold some rooms on this floor, according to the same sources near the health center. These figures do not include the cases of isolated patients in their homes that the Generalitat is following daily throughout the health area.
Only some municipalities have provided some information, in a very limited way, on positive cases in their terms. Pilar de la Horadada confirms two, San Fulgencio another two, San Miguel de Salinas and Torrevieja with one per municipality in their municipalities.
But the real figures are much more bulky, especially in Orihuela Costa - where control of the confinement had to be reinforced by the UME last week in the case of some communities of foreigners - and Torrevieja, with thousands of residents displaced from the Community. from Madrid , not only since classes were suspended. Residents from other communities in the peninsular center continue to arrive daily in a trickle that the confinement has not been able to stop even today.
The Hospital opened in 2006 was designed to admit patients in individual rooms but with the capacity to be doubled in case of need. And it is what is happening right now. The infrastructure has about two hundred and thirty individual operating beds. They can be folded to increase capacity. It coordinates many of its services with the neighboring Vinalopó Hospital in Elche, which currently suffers less care. Most of your communication strategy is already joint for both centers, and you will be able to use the resources of that center if you need them.
Despite the fact that Ribera Salud has assured that it does not require more respirators, it has received at least two, one from a private clinic in Alicante and another from the Veterinary Hospital of San Vicente, according to the College of Veterinarians of the Province of Alicante.
Yesterday, Ribera Salud offered for the first time a piece of information about the incidence of the pandemic, explaining that it had contracted a reinforcement of 97 toilets only for Torrevieja. It serves a potential population of 160,000 users with a health card, in addition to thousands of displaced people in Torrevieja, Orihuela Costa (fifteen kilometers of coastline in addition to Torremendo and the Entrenaranjos macro-urbanization), Los Montesinos, San Miguel de Salinas, Benijófar, Formentera, San Fulgencio , Rojales, Guardamar del Segura and Pilar de la Horadada.
The area has about 1,100 permanent workers. All services, including those of the network of health centers, have been reoriented to the fight against the coronavirus and Ribera Salud is using the telematic tools that it has shown in recent years to keep patients in contact. with your GPs. Especially through YoSalud . An application in which more than 70,000 residents of the area are registered and that allows the patient to communicate directly with their doctors.

That is why I phrased it “said to be confirmed “ the person who posted did not give that information simply said “confirmed “
