Torrevieja mayor, Eduardo Dolón, said that beaches within the city area would reopen for walks and individual sporting exercises from May 6th.
“Swimming is prohibited, as is sunbathing,” the mayor stated.
Beaches at Los Náufragos, El Cura, Los Locos, Cabo Cervera and La Mata will be open under the times for different age categories announced in the current phase of derestricting the country’s lockdown.
For people aged between 14 and 70 years, the times will be between 6.00am and 10.00am, and then from 8.00pm to 11.00pm.
Youngsters aged under 14 years have access between 12.00pm and 7.00pm, whilst the other 70 years-plus group will have two slots between 10.00am and 12.00pm, and then 7.00pm to 8.00pm.
The Acequión beaches will remain closed for the time being.
“No beach furniture like loungers and umbrellas can be taken onto the sand, and no meetings or group activities are allowed. Social distancing must be observed.”
And:
8.45 Alicante will allow you to walk along the beaches from this Friday. The Mayor of Alicante, Luis Barcala, signed a decree on Thursday that lifted the closure of the beaches for walking and sports activities starting at 3:00 pm this Friday.

Does anyone know if the Orihuela Costa beaches are open for walking? Or will be when phase 1 kicks in?

Certain beaches have been opened for professional and accredited sports (kayaking, surfing etc) in the following beaches from yesterday along with the beach at Campoamor:
* Cala Estaca (Left part of the beach below biosaludables).
* Punta prima (Right side of the beach where the elevator).
* Cala Bosque (Right part of the corner of the Soal apartments).
* Playa de la Caleta (Left side down the entrance to the port).
* Barranco Rubio (Left side down to the Chiringuito Club Náutico)
And a statement from Orihuela Costa ayuntamiento
The City Council remembers that the beaches would only be opened respecting the rules imposed by the state government and following the decrees published in the BOE, that is, the opening will be respecting the phases so that at the beginning they will only be opened for walking, it will be prohibited to take sunbathing, bathing and sitting on the sand.
It is planned, if there were no sanitary problems, a partial opening allowing the walk from May 15, for more activities from May 22, while the bath is planned from June 8 .

Lots of beaches in the area now open but some still remain closed for swimming. Note that lifeguards will not be available until 15th June on some of the beaches.
Alicante: beaches now open for swimming as is the Isla Tabarca which restarts its ferry crossings today.
The beaches of Elche (El Altet, Arenales del Sol, El Carabassí, El Pinet, La Marina and Les Pesqueres El Rebollo) and El Campello are also open, although they still do not have lifeguards .
Orihuela Costa has opened all its 11 beaches.
Torrevieja will not allow swimming until 8th June (next Monday)
Guardamar has opened its beaches for swimming but no lifeguards until the 15th.
Pilar de la Horadada beaches open as from today, 3rd June.
Bit further afield and Benidorm, Santa Pola and Finestrat will not open for bathing for the time being.
Most of the beaches on the Marina Alta opened for swimming on 1st June but the smaller beaches of Calp, Morello and others will remain closed except for walking.
A distance of 4m is required between groups of people, clothes and towels etc must be kept in a small area and no closer than 6m to the water. Footwear must be worn to enter and exit the beaches.
Other restrictions will apply so read the rules which will be posted at the entrances.

Torrevieja beaches open from today (just the weather for it).
Torrevieja council has employed 100 currently unemployed people to patrol the beaches to ensure the distancing and safety procedures are being adhered to.
There was a 63 page document issued last month which lays out the whole procedure so forgive me for not reading the entire thing.
They had planned to operate a telephone booking system and restrict the hours you are allowed but not sure if they've done that.
Further afield, the beaches in Benidorm won't open until the 22nd June. They will cordon off areas you have to stay in and close the beaches at noon and in the evening to disinfect them. Again, they will be employing people to police the restrictions.

Went to Roqueta beach in Guardamar on Friday. Really quiet, plenty of space and no staff or notices advising any rules. It was absolutely glorious.

Just an update on La Mata beach. Regardless of signs, several people had set up their chairs & umbrellas this morning & as I passed at 11.00, the lifeguards, under the watchful eye of a Policia Locale car, were telling everyone to pack up and leave .....on my return along the boardwalk, all gone, just walkers. This was at the far end of the beach towards Cabo Cervera.
