New Art Evening Class in Benijofar
‘I can’t draw a straight line.’ How many times has art teacher Suzanne Stokes heard that!
‘But’, she says,’ more often than not people who come to my classes achieve success they never dreamed of. Many are now selling their own work, or producing pictures which will become treasured family keepsakes.’
Learning to draw is a core skill to being a good artist, but it’s rarely taught in schools these days – and it really isn’t so difficult. Within a few weeks most people have mastered the basics and have become hooked on their new hobby. Then they tell me “I see so many things differently now – colours, shapes, shadows – it’s like having an extra sense.” Students move on to their chosen mediums, which may be watercolour, acrylic, oil or pastels, when they feel ready.’
And the beauty of being an artist is you never stop learning, and it’s a hobby you can keep up even if you become infirm. Indeed a number of my students over the years have been able to reduce or come off medication because they have a creative outlet.’
Suzanne has been running classes in the area for many years. The new classes at Bar Catorce, Benijofar (with air conditioning!) begin on Thursday 5th June from 7.00-9.15pm. Beginners need not bring anything with them as all drawing materials are provided for the first few weeks.
