Has anyone done a day trip to Valencia on the train?

Has anyone done a day trip to Valencia on the train?

Postby Elaine rawson » Mon Sep 29, 2014 2:09 pm

I would like to know if anyone has caught the train to Valencia and returned in the same day leaving enough time to have a look around. If so where can I catch a train (nearest station to Quesada. Any times and costs associated would be great if known. We have been to Valencia previously by car and looked around the new architectural buildings when we stayed in Calpe, but would like to revisit the old town. We are due out to Quesada in 2 weeks. Any information would be received with thanks.

Obviously not from Quesada but you could drive to Formentera and leave the car there. It's about 3 hours each way so you'd have to plan the times pretty well.
IMO, a half day in Valencia is nowhere near enough. My OH spends that amount of time just going round El Corte Ingles.
Dave's coach trips do a 3 day, 2 night stay near the centre for just €102 each which is excellent value. You get there about 1pm and that's ideal for going round the Nuevo Centro and across the old bridge to the Rio Park. You would then have all next day to visit the centre with all the cathedrals, old markets and museums. There is even a hop on/hop off bus or you could see the ecopark or marine centre and modern exhibition centres. You then leave about 3pm on day 3 which gives you time to see anything you may have missed.
Board is half board and breakfast is wonderful with everything you could want.
Valencia is one of my favourite cities but can be hard work if you try and rush it.

Hi,
I'm not sure about the trains but there are coach trips that go there with both Rosa Tours and Davids coaches (Always worth a mention!). They both pick up in Quesada. We have been on a few of these trips and always enjoy them. The Valencia ones are three day trips with bed & breakfast (2 nights hotel) but, for the price, they seem quite good value.

Hopefully someone can tell you about the trains.

Jan.

Edit - PS Sorry my post came in moments after the one above which is saying much the same....Great thoughts think alike !

Hi have a look at www.loco2.com for trains. We have used the site several times now for trains into Alicante from Barcelona and UK very easy to use and in English (still working on our Spanish!).
If you can get to Alicante the train should be around 1.5 to 2 hours to Valencia. Costs could be as little as £19 return.
You can also use renfe.com, we just find loco2 easier.

We used Rosa Tours for a one-day trip to Valencia. The bus left Quesada around half past seven in the morning and got baxk twelve hours later.

Just to let everyone know. We took dave coaches in the end. Caught coach at 9am in quesada with other like minded people. Arrived in Valencia in time to have a look around in the afternoon. Spent the next full day visiting the sites. The coach left the Expo hotel at 3.15pm the following day. Cost was 102 euro per person and well worth it. I would recommend the trip to anyone.

No train station in Formentera, nearest one is San Isidro, which on the line Murcia to Alicante.
