I'm sure you will get lots of good advice.
Please feel free to ask any questions and in the meantime browse the forum home page and you will find a wealth of information there. List of restaurants and recommended restaurants, health services and loads more ...just browse the titles and you will find things of interest to you.
All restaurants are a personal choice and you can't go far wrong just trying them out as we have a great choice around us. Just look at the list here

Good luck in your new life in Spain.
Enjoy the forum.

A very warm welcome to you. Sadly we have 5 years or so to retirement but have a beautiful holiday home just down the road on Lo Crispin , eagerly waiting our youngest to leave school !! I will say this Forum is excellent with helpful hints and advice initially on completing our purchase and that still continues 5 years on. So please do as Jan advises and browse the pages.... I do it daily even when am back in the UK !!!

Welcome. The area you are moving to has a superb amount of shops, bars and restaurants to choose from with many in easy walking distance. I'm sure you'll enjoy it over here and you are moving at a great time. It will still be lovely weather but the extreme heat will have passed so you will be able to get out and about without looking for shade all the time.
I think Spain has some of the best coffee in the world and there are plenty of places around your wife can go and indulge her pleasure.
On the shop front, you have plenty of supermarkets to choose from. We tend to use different ones for different things as each does something a bit better than the other and it is quite interesting to shop around and find things. From Consum to Lidl and Gama, a Mercadona and an Aldi not far away. Even an Iceland just 10 to 15 minutes away if that's what you want.
The main town has so many restaurants to choose from that you'll be spoiled for choice. The other good thing is that it is an all round town and doesn't become a deserted area in the winter like so many places nearby.
You won't get many opportunities to practice your Spanish. I have had many conversations where I am speaking Spanish but am being replied to in English. Surreal in some cases. There are many nationalities here in Quesada and the lingu franca is English so you will often see groups of Brits, Scandinavians, Germans, French, Spanish and Eastern Europeans all conversing in English.
Best of luck on your move.

Welcome Wilf, I'm looking to 'disengage' from work in the next 12-18m and like yourself the prospects to indulge in the Spanish lifestyle are really exciting.
Having purchased a house 2 years ago in the Pueblo Bravo area we visit 6-7 times per year and I'm still getting my bearings and still a relative novice.
This is where the true value of the forum delivers, its a great source of information and the members are very supportive. (and entertaining)
You (or others) may ask the question but everyone learns from the range of responses from the group.
Congratulations and enjoy.
Regards,
Roy

Hi, we too are moving to Quesada in mid September, Lynn 68 and Geoff 61with our Bichon Lily. We are moving into rented on Roccio 2. We spent a month in Quesada early in the year as my husband had never visited. He, like me, loved the place and we made the decision to move permanently. I will post again when we have moved and maybe we can meet up for a coffee (or something stronger). Good luck with everything, hope to see you in September.
