Anyone scrapped a UK car in Spain ?

The moment that you declare the car as SORN it’s illegal to drive it on U.K. plates anywhere.
The same applies when the MOT expires, or when it’s been in Spain for 6 months.

K
Incorrect Jan, he said “Currently it is registered with DVLA as SORN (off the road)”
He also said that “MOT has run out”
So it’s illegal on two counts (probably three, as it won’t be insured if it’s SORN and no MOT) which means that if he drives it to a breakers yard then he’ll be breaking the law. This means that he’ll need tobe looking for a breakers yard that collects, which will probably mean that he’ll have to pay to scrap it.

Getting confused here. The OIP said that it was not SORN when it arrived in Spain, but now it is. So going back to another reply, "You can't SORN a car unless it is in the UK. So my question is... How did it manage to get SORN if it was in Spain?Jan wrote:PeteKnight wrote:The moment that you declare the car as SORN it’s illegal to drive it on U.K. plates anywhere.

Going off at a tangent here but there are far too many UK registered cars over in the local area alone that are blatantly not street legal. Cars that I see in Spain all the year round and judging by the state of them, not gone the long haul back for MOT. Ultimately not taxed or insured. This also leads to overstaying the annual time limit. What some people seem to conveniently forget is that they could quite easily be involved in an accident. God forbid they kill someone. I have absolutely no sympathy for these owners. They are driving under the Spanish traffic radar and need to be sorted out. Rant over. Sorry to the original thread poster as you are trying to sort your problem out.
