Crikey that sounds a bit risky. Lots of potential issues, loss, theft, damage, delays, customs charges or import taxes on arrival in Spain, possible confiscation if the person transporting it hasn’t completed the correct paperwork etc;

If travelling on ferry, Brittany Ferries charge extra for cars with bike racks.

You might want to think about getting a professional removal company to bring it over. Much safer, much less hassle and it would be insured.

I think it was mentioned before that if a bike was on the back of your car they'd wave you through. But, people normally have at least one overnighter and then what, it's a responsibility for Joe Bloggs to bring it over. The people who advertise on here said the other day 200 quid to bring a bike over and it's fully insured.

We brought 2 new electric bikes with us recently, just wrapped in tarpaulin and laid one on top of the other, strapped on the car roof. Never even considered we might need extra paperwork.

Even though I was expecting to and prepared to pay any fee or extra tax at Dover, we had no issues at all, no questions, no fees no whatever’s. When I booked the ferry I made sure I selected the vehicle size large enough to allow for all dimensions. And that was that. I may have been lucky or maybe it’s the norm.
Good luck with your bike.
