Car hire

Good for you trying the locks out when you did ,! most people dont, who uses a key to lock lock/unlock a car anymore !some cars dont even have obvious locks they are usually covered over by a plastic blanking plate
My main concern is that car hire cos.use the damage on any car over and over again to stripe people up. A young couple with a couple of youngsters having to pay for existing damage after they have had a nice holiday in this lovely area because they did not notice it when they picked the car up is sad !!
Thought Centauro was one of the better car hire co.maybe they are but im seriously thinking of getting a car soon and leave it parked at one of the airport car parks, more expensive i know but peace of mind .!

I had a very similar issue with Centauro, a small scuff scratch which could only be seen by dropping to your knees and looking upwards, lo and behold that is exactly what the check off guy did, he went straight to it, he knew it was there, a blue VW Polo....another money making mule, I suspect that even though they charged me €225 the repair would never be made, I still have the pics for future reference.
Very disappointing really as I had also had previous good experiences with them.

DO NOT USE CENTAURO €300 FOR A SCRATCH ON WHEEL THAT WE DIDNT DO. we’ve used Centauro for many years and numerous times every year. Whereas they normally check over the car inside and out with a light, today he was literally covering every inch of the car more thorough than ever before. He has said we scratched the alloy which we know we hadn’t (only used it from the airport and back!!) and it was that minor we didn’t notice it when we picked it up and looked over it. Anyway they’ve deducted €300. When I’ve queried the policy as the scratch is smaller than the circle they document scratches on I’ve been told this doesn’t relate to wheels or windows but they haven’t told me what their policy is with regard to these. I will never use them again and have cancelled all future bookings. Please be warned. Customer loyalty means nothing!!!

Just got stung by Centauro car hire who i have never had any trouble with over the last 3 yrs, and in fact thought they were very fair when i did damage one of their cars a couple of years ago.
this time they said i had damaged the LOCK !
When we picked the car up (Grey Dacia Duster ) it was covered in dents and scratches, i tried to refuse the car , but they said thats all they had ????
On returning the car. their checker almost ignored all the existing damage and went straight to the drivers door lock and tried the key which would not go into the lock,he then suggested i had damaged the lock or someone has tried to break into the car (poss but unlikely).
Iam covered by my own excess insurance so should get my money back (£250)
So beware if your hire car that has a lock on any door (alot of modern cars dont!) try the keys in them before you drive off !
hope this helps !
All cars have locks. For looks on newer cars they are hidden behind a plastic cover on the handle on drivers door.

This is what i said a couple of post ago ! Its ridiculous that you have to do this ,go searching for a hidden lock .
but if you want cheaper car hire, then you have to be a bit clued up and prepared for the worst.
You MUST get yourself some car hire excess ins (£40-£100 /yr ) depending how much cover you need.
Have a check list (maybe on your mob.) and check everything, if you find anything not on their list, then insist they put in on and sig. I know it takes time ,but if you use them 6-8 times a yr ,it soon comes routine.
Or you pay for a local car hire which will be 3-4 more expensive but you will have everything covered (hopefully) except the fuel you use. All depends on what you are like with cars !!
