has anybody been late to pick up their car due to flight changes my flight has been put back several hours but if I cancel my car hire it will be double to rebook is it worth just phoning from the airport to say I will be late

If you have given them your flight number when booking, they should know your flight status.

Just phone or email the rental company with your new arrival time. Hire companies are very used to flight schedule changes, particularly in recent times. It shouldn’t be a problem at all, just let them know!
