Car Insurance query

My car Insurance is due to expire very shortly and I am due to return to the U.K. just a week later and won't be returning for 9 months. The car will be securely locked up on my drive behind a gate.Do I have to insurance it before I leave? Thanks in anticipation.

Can’t see any legal reason you would need to insure it if it’s off the road. However, you might want to consider other potential issues resulting in damage to your car, (flood, theft, vandalism etc) which possibly won’t be covered on your house insurance.

Maybe ask a broker if there is a specific policy to cover such eventualities?

If I understand correctly.inSpain there is no SORN.If you have paid your Suma it has to be insured.You may get a discount from your insurer.

Can you have 3rd party fire and theft to make it cheaper ?

Hi, I have recently been in the same situation, my car is off-road, I live in uk, I contacted insurers and was told the car has to be insured all the time even when off-road not in use for long time. Spanish Police stated it must be insured, so I have saved money by reinsurance car third party, for & theft.
You have to pay car sums as well.

You can have the car put on a Tempory Baja at Traffico in Elche or Alicante then there is no need for insurance otherwise insurance is needed
