Car key reprogramming

Car key reprogramming

Postby Foz955 » Sat Jul 30, 2022 11:51 am

Hi Everyone,

Have an old Peugeot with remote key. I replaced the battery in the remote. It will open the car doors but will not start the car. I have tried following the manual instructions to reprogramme the key but doesn’t make any difference!
Can anyone recommend someone who could reprogramme my key?

Thanks

Ivey found the key shop by Aguapolis is very good and reasonable but there is also a new one that's opened up next to the barbers at the side of Carrefour with apparently new tip top tech

Which model and year of Peugeot?

On older cars remote locking and start are two entirely separate things and even without a battery at all the car should still start.

Simply replacing the battery should have had no effect whatsoever on that.

Hi Darro,
It’s an old 2003 307.
Unfortunately, though you may be right in theory, it definitely doesn’t start now on the key! The manual does state that you need to reprogramme the key after a battery change.
I’ll pop down to the shop near Carrefour, as suggested by Chrisdee, tomorrow.
Thanks everyone.

On a 2003 car it's just nuts that the simple act of replacing a battery wipes out the key coding.

Always swore I'd never buy a French car!

Just been down to Simon ( behind Carrefour, next to Paul’s barbers). All sorted, great service and very knowledgable. Much cheaper than Peugeot dealer! Definitely recommended for any car key problems.
